We are currently prepping to deliver 421 “Summer Surprise” boxes to our elderly clients, and we need your help!
Twice a year, in June and December, VISTE volunteers collect, pack, and deliver boxes filled to the brim with personal care products to seniors in Lakeland, Bartow, Ft. Meade and Mulberry.
Often, these essentials are items that you and I take for granted every day. With the cost of commodities rising, many of our clients living on fixed incomes cannot afford everyday items like paper towels, laundry detergent, and various toiletries.
Here’s where you come in:
- Boxes will be delivered between June 7th and the 30th. Volunteers are asked to call the client before they deliver.
- You may choose your zip code preference (availability varies) if you’d like. We will provide you with maps and directions to the client’s home.
- Our business hours for pick-up of the boxes are 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday. We prefer that you arrive the week of the 7th to pick up your boxes. We will be more than happy to accomodate your availability if you are not able to make it that week.
- Boxes are about the size of a “bankers box”, so you’ll want to be prepared for the amount you’d like to deliver (aka: so they’ll fit in your vehicle). Boxes do not have lids, so the bed of a truck would not be ideal for our afternoon showers that occur during the summer.
- Groups, families, and children are welcome!
