Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) was founded in 1983 in Lakeland, Florida. VISTE serves those 65 and older living in Lakeland, Bartow, Ft. Meade, and Mulberry with a variety of services that help the elderly stay safe and independent in their own homes:
- Transportation to doctor’s appointment and miscellaneous errands
- Hot Meals for our frail clients who are unable to prepare a nutritious meal
- Monthly supplement to groceries for over 1,400 households
- Birthday celebrations for clients celebrating 90 years or more
- Personal care item deliveries to over 800 clients each year
- Emergency assistance, respite, bathing, housekeeping
- Minor home repairs and wheelchair ramps
VISTE is a United Way agency and relies on volunteers to carry out client programs. 90 cents of every dollar donated to VISTE goes directly to the client.
